Four men believed to be known gang members and associates were arrested following a traffic stop in NE Portland early Tuesday morning.

Jeray Jessie, 21, Emanuel Hall, 30, Jawan Moody, 19, and Jonathon Johnson, 25, all face multiple gun-related charges.

According to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), officers stopped a car with four occupants at East Burnside and 162nd Avenue. As they approached the vehicle, they noticed one of the passengers had a .357 revolver, which was later determined to be loaded.

The PPB reports that after the suspects were arrested and their car impounded, officers used a search warrant to recover a 9 mm pistol.

PPB Lieutenant Robert King tells KOIN Local 6 that at this time he has no information that these men are specifically connected to the three gang-related shootings, one fatal, that occurred last weekend in the Portland area. At last report there have been no arrests made in any of the shootings.

25-year-old Deandre Clark died Monday from gunshot wounds sustained in Friday’s shooting in the area of Jefferson High School near North Haight Avenue and Emerson Street. It followed a football game at the high school. Police believe the shooting was not related to the game.

The following day, Saturday, Oct. 22, a drive-by shooting occurred at a bus shelter on Northeast Killingsworth and 15th Avenue. Witnesses say a group of African-American men in a vehicle drove by the bus stop and fired multiple shots at the shelter. At least two African-American men were at the bus stop at the time. Police are unsure if anyone was injured.

Early Sunday morning, Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers responded to the area of Southeast 92nd Avenue and Foster Road to find that a red Dodge Charger with chrome rims had been shot at.

The shooting happened across the street from the New Copper Penny bar, but police said the shooter was firing across the street in the direction of the Chevron gas station. Police later located the car in the IHOP parking lot at Southeast 82nd Avenue and Raymond Street .

The occupants of the car told police that two African-American men with guns started shooting at them as they entered the parking lot. The driver told police he was able to drive away without being injured, but the car was hit twice by gunfire.

Tuesday’s traffic stop was made by officers with the PPB Gang Enforcement Team’s CoolDown Operation, which came in response to the gang situation.

Jessie is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm in public. Hall is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and theft in the first degree. Moody is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, a parole violation and carrying a loaded firearm in public. Johnson is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm in public.

All four men are lodged in the Multnomah County Detention Center.
